[PYC-News] PYC - Yard is Full

Hello All: It took a little longer this year than last, but the yard is full.Â Please do not bring any more boats down to the club. If you have a boat in the yard please get a PYC sticker on it.Â Not only is it stylish, all the rage, and very exclusive due to our rigorous membership process, but it is the only way we know whose is whose if any issues arise.Â Finally, please be courteous and respectful of your neighbors as it is a little tight down there. If you find your boat has been moved you can assume that more than likely it was done by the club to try and even things out and not the owner of the boat in your old spot.Â When you do move your boat and trailer take a second to look around to make sure your neighbors can get in and out when they need to launch. [PYC-News] Pettipaug Yacht Club Announcement Regarding Recent Theft at the Club

I am sorry to report that recently a member had money taken from their unlocked car while parked at Pettipaug during a racing event. This theft happened while members were on the grounds and went unnoticed until later in the evening. While this is not a common occurrence, we have seen this in past years as well. Please consider securing your valuables and locking your vehicles while at the club. While we all treasure the tranquility of our space and friendliness of our Pettipaug family, this is a reminder we still need to take precautions to protect our possessions, even at Pettipaug. Please notify a board member if you experience any problems at the club, and please continue to enjoy our beautiful spot on the river safely. [PYC-News] Connecticut River Museum Paddle Regatta

On Saturday, August 10, the Connecticut River Museum will be hosting its 3rd annual paddle regatta, Conquer the Current 2019. It is open to all who would like to see the Connecticut River from their own kayak, canoe or SUP. Entry fees will support the museum's education scholarship fund. [PYC-News] Pettipaug Yacht Club- Mid July Updates

Just a few reminders about the club. This weekend is a our Mid-Summer Regatta (skippers meeting 12:30) and our Mid-Summer Party (5:00). Remember junior sailors are invited to join the Scow fleet at the regatta- reach out to Keith Kraner at kandakrane(a)aol.com<mailto:kandakrane@aol.com>. Come join us for one or both of these activities. The club will host our annual junior sailing regatta on Sunday, August 4. The clubhouse, ramp and yard will be extremely busy with young, enthusiastic sailors and member volunteers, please plan your weekend activities accordingly as we will not be able to accommodate other activities that day. Please pick up after your dog at the club. We are delighted our four legged friends enjoy the club as much as we do, but please be considerate so we may continue to offer this privilege. [PYC-News] Pettipaug Yacht Club: Come join us Saturday, July 13

Welcome to our Mid-summer Celebration. We will be hosting a regatta and party on July 13 for members and sincerely hope you will join us for one or both of the events. Details about the day follow here: Midsummer Regatta: All dinghies are invited to sail our long distance course starting off the dock at the club. You will need to sign up at the club and have your boat rigged and in the water prior to the 12:30 skippers meeting. Racing starts at 1:00 prompt. Awards to be presented at evening party. All junior sailors from the club and Sailing Academy are invited to join an experienced Scow sailor on his boat for the Midsummer Regatta. Sailors should be at PYC before noon to join their skippers, race starts at 1:00. Please reach out to Keith Kraner at kandakrane(a)aol.com no later than Friday to secure your spot. Grab a friend and sign up for a fun afternoon on the river. Midsummer Party: Vive La France. Please join us for an evening of friends and fun. There is a $5 cover charge and beverages are included, please bring a dish to share. Cocktails and Food Starts at 5:00 pm. Regatta Awards at 6:00. Entertainment at 6:15. Storming of the Bastille is provided by the PYC Never, Ever Ready for Prime Time Players. â¦July 14 1789. Paris, France. The attack on the Government (the Haves) by the Commoners (the Have Nots) will be re-played PYC style. PYC members will shout loudly in the stands, bang their pots, and cheer on their team of Haves or Have Nots. Expect the unexpected.. the only guarantee is "se marrer". And of course, "Qu'ils mangent du gateau" Many cakes available to sample and share. Madame Defarges, Napoleons, Marie Antoinettes all welcome to join in the crowd. Bring your pots, wear your berets, and please join us for evening of entertainment. [PYC-News] Pettipaug Yacht Club Commodore's Update July, 2019

[cid:7a6464b6-9c95-4891-87ef-f11d2930d8bf] Itâs that wonderful time of year again where we can enjoy warm days, cool nights and lots of time on the water. I hope your plans to celebrate the July 4th weekend include a visit to PYC for a cookout, walk, swim, row or sail. Please plan to join us for the Mid-Summer Party July 13 at 5PM â this one is always festive! House and Grounds NO TRAILER STORAGE AT CLUB: Due to limited space in our yard, we do not allow trailers without boats on them to be stored on Club grounds. Boats may be stored at the Club on a space available basis. Please remember to register your boat with an attendant (they are on duty on the weekends) or email Jim Carey at jciaus(a)yahoo.com<mailto:jciaus@yahoo.com> and get a sticker when you bring your boat to the club. FREE FIREWOOD: The wood next to the dumpster is available to be taken on a first come, first served basis. DRIVE SLOWLY: Thank you for driving slowly on our road. This reduces unnecessary wear and tear on the road and provides safety for our members (especially the young) who arrive by foot and bike. NO CAR PARKING ON THE SOUTH LAWN: Now that summer is in full swing and more boats are being stored in the south lot, it may be difficult for boat owners to access their boats if cars are left there unattended. If you see anything out of place or damaged at the Club, please report it to Jim at the above email. We only have attendants on duty on the weekends and appreciate any heads up we can get to help us address issues at the Club. Racing Racing season is underway at Pettipaug and our members have been actively participating in several races. We had a good turnout for the Commodoreâs Race in May, a PYC team competed for the Hawkins Trophy in June, the Scows have revived their Thursday night racing and we hosted a successful start to our Blue Jay series last week. Sailors that participated in the Leukemia Cup Regatta in May were part of an effort that raised $45,107.40 for LLS. Results for PYC races are posted on our website racing page. I hope all members will consider joining us for our upcoming Mid Summer Handicap Regatta on July 13. It is a long-distance race, starting at club, sailing to Essex before heading to Deep River and then returning to the Club. All sailing dinghies are welcome! Meet The MC Scows Come join the MC Scow fleet for their Thursday night sails. Anyone interested in great one design racing is invited to come on Thursday evenings and try out a Scow. The fleet has a couple of boats available for loaners, and they aim to be on the water by 6pm, racing by 6:30pm. The Scows are also hosting their 99 Bottles of Beer Regatta on July 20-21 and are looking for volunteers to help with Race Committee. They are planning both long distance and short course racing over this weekend. Please consider reaching out if you would like to be a part of this fun event.
