This summer has been a sailorâs (and boaterâs) delight with so many beautiful days and evenings inviting us to enjoy our beautiful river and Club. Do you have photos or memories you would like to share? Visit our Facebook page, Pettipaug Yacht Club @PYCSXCT to âlikeâ and follow us; share your summer memories on the Pettipaug Yacht Club Group page.
House and Grounds
NO TRAILER STORAGE AT CLUB: Due to limited space in our yard, we do not allow trailers without boats on them to be stored on Club grounds. Boats may be stored at the Club on a space available basis. Please remember to register your boat with an attendant (they are on duty on the weekends) and get a sticker when you bring your boat to the club. If you have questions email Jim Carey at jciaus(a)yahoo.com<mailto:jciaus@yahoo.com>.
It is a good idea to lock your car while you are at the club. We also ask that members pick up after their dogs â and themselves! Trash receptacles are provided for member convenience.
If you see anything out of place or damaged at the Club, please report it to Jim at the above email. We only have attendants on duty on the weekends and appreciate any heads up we can get to help us address issues at the Club.
Paul Risseeuw Pettipaug Junior Sailing Regatta
On Sunday, August 4, we will be hosting our junior sailing regatta. It is an all day event and we anticipate more than 50 sailors and 20 volunteers participating to make a great experience for our junior sailors. Please feel free to stop by and check out the action, but be advised our clubhouse, ramp, docks and boatyards will be very busy this day with regatta activity, which will have priority use of our facilities for the day.
Racing
Racing season continues to flourish this summer. In July we had 2 weekends of racing as well as the 2nd race in the Blue Jay series. Check our website or bulletin board at the Club for results. Upcoming, we have One-Design Racing scheduled for August 18 and September 15. We anticipate setting up courses off the club and running multiple races for any fleet that shows up. Mark your calendar and grab your sails, hope to see you there.
Special Thanks
While the list would be long to thank everyone that volunteers in any given month to the club, this month we would like to recognize local sailor Bruce Lawrence for creating racks, shelves, and rudder and dagger board holders in our Optimist shed. What a treat to walk in and be able to find all the parts in their respective homes. And thanks to John Becker for the addition of our racks to store the Optimists next to the shed. These two projects have really âoptimizedâ our storage- thanks!
