Fellow Pettipaug members,
The Board of Directors and numerous club members have been reviewing the proposal coming before the Essex Harbor Commission (EHMC) tomorrow night.
We have concerns about the appropriateness and viability of the proposed commercial enterprise in this location and plan to have representatives prepared to speak during the "public comment" section of the meeting.
The Essex Harbor Commission Meeting is scheduled for tomorrow night, October 22, 2020 at 7pm.
Information pertaining to the proposal can be found at the Essex Harbor Commission Website<http://www.essexct.gov/harbor-management-commission>.
This meeting is open to the public in person or Via Zoom<https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81986499925?pwd=YXdNT094endzT2kzMGV6MlUrbCs2QT09> (Meeting ID: 819 8649 9925, Passcode: 577371)

Dear fellow Pettipaug members,
As members of Pettipaug Yacht Club you have an interest in the club, the grounds and neighborâs activity in the area.
As such, we wanted to provide you with the following information on land use that may affect PYC, access to the property, our ability to safely operate PSA; as well as our ability to sail, race kayak, and paddleboard in the shallow stretch of water in front of the club.
The following is a proposal presented at the Essex Harbor Management Commission (EHMC) meeting of 9/24/20:
The basic proposal to support a marine construction business and shad fishing is:
"Bombaci Family, LLC proposes to construct an elevated platform and expand an existing dock to support a marine construction business and shad fishing at their Essex property on the Connecticut River. The elevated platform will measure approximately 31' x 78' (2,154 SF) with a DEEP-LWRD-APP-001T Page 2 of 3 Rev. 10/01/19 deck elevation of 7.0' MLW. The dock expansion will involve replacing the existing floating dock with a 10' x 60' main floating dock and two (2) 4' x 18' floating finger docks at the end to form a T-head (all restrained by anchor piles), and installation of four (4) dolphin tie-off piles. In addition, the applicant seeks to authorize and maintain the existing boulder/cobble shoreline."
The proposed elevated platform and dock would be located after the bend in the road (on the left) going to PYC. A parking area is proposed for the opposite side of the road.
The Bombaci proposal was tabled until the next regular Essex Harbor Commission Meeting scheduled for October 22, 2020 at 7pm. The meeting will be available through a link on Zoom<https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81986499925?pwd=YXdNT094endzT2kzMGV6MlUrbCs2QT09> (Meeting ID: 819 8649 9925, Passcode: 577371). It will also be held in person at the Essex Town Hall - Room A so attendees can better see and discuss drawings, plan and maps. This is the EHMC Agenda for October 22, 2020<https://www.essexct.gov/sites/g/files/vyhlif3116/f/agendas/harbor_commissio…>.
We will continue to monitor the direct affects to the club.
