[cid:image001.png@01D9AFFD.81FD5430] Midsummer Party and Race - July 2023 Dear Pettipaug members, Please hereby receive the announcement for the Midsummer Party and the Notice Of Race for the Midsummer Handicap Race. Both will be held on Saturday July 15. The Skippers meeting for the race will be at noon at the PYC Clubhouse and the first start will be at 1pm. All types of sailboats are encouraged and welcome to participate. This is a distance race scored using the Portsmouth handicap. The course is typically 3 - 4 miles long. Depending on the conditions, boats will normally sail around a buoy north of Essex Harbor, north of the club and back to the club. The definite course will be confirmed during the skippers meeting. The race can take anywhere between 1 - 3 hours based on your boat type and skill. There will be a separate start for the MC Scows, but the entire fleet will be scored as one. The Midsummer Party will follow after racing at 5pm. This year's theme will be "Ship Wreck"!! I can not wait to see all the creativity in costumes.
