Happy Valentine’s Day Pettipaug Members

February 2, 2025, the Ground Hog did NOT see his shadow,

therefore predicting an early spring!  But, February the 14th

is a special day for romance, for big hugs and gestures of

kindness, for sweethearts and kisses~ perhaps “shiny things”

for family and friends~ human and fur.  Valentine’s Day is for

ALL- enjoy!

                                                           

 

ESSEX SAVINGS BANK 2025: Community Investment Program

If you are an ESB customer, log into your on-line Essex Savings

Bank account: please vote for the non-profit “Pettipaug Junior

Sailing Academy” to become a recipient of this generous

program. Or, stop in at one of their six branches for a paper

ballot. Voting ends February 28.

 

THE BIG CHILL IN FEBRUARY~ but warm plans ahead!

 PYC members gathered at Nancy Devens’ home in Chester

January 27 to discuss activities for our May 24 Commissioning

and celebration of PYC’s 75thAnniversary. It was suggested

and agreed upon to do the following: Ask for all our members

to send emails of those who you feel might like to attend the

festivities... PJSA alumni (1960s’ – present) former members,

members who  are living out of town. Please send me their

email or mailing  addresses and we will send them an invitation.

Invitations and registration forms will also be on-line. Weekly

updates will be  sent regarding Commissioning, Commodore’s

Race and other spring activities. All PYC activities are posted

on the website Calendar. Thank you again to all who attended

…we are collecting your PYC memories and photos that you

2025 MEMBER’S PRIVATE PARTY PYC RENTALS 

Members, this is an opportune time to plan your spring and

summer gatherings at PYC. The PYC Private Party Member

Guidelines and Agreement are on the PYC Web-site.

2025 MEMBERSHIP: Thanks so much to all PYC members who

have paid their dues. We are in the midst of working on a special

edition of the 2025 PYC Roster. We want as many paid members

listed as feasible, so this is the ideal time to renew! THANK YOU.

 

2025 PETTIPAUG SAFE POWERBOATING COURSE: Two-day

hands-on Power Boat Operator course (Saturday and Sunday)

DATES:  # 1 April 26 & 27~ #2 May 17 & 18

                 #3 June 14 & 15 ~ #4 August 9 & 10

Sign up to learn and improve your powerboat skills! The course

covers the requirements to earn a Connecticut Safe Boating

Certificate and provides hands-on power boat training. It is one

of the few hands-on courses available in Connecticut.

WANTED:  2025 PYC WEEKEND ATTENDANT

PYC will be interviewing for a 2025 weekend attendant. This

Would be a  suitable position for someone retired, teacher,

college  student, etc. who has summers free. A CT Boating

License *and  CPR certification are  required. Hours, pay

and duties will be discussed with applicants. Preferably a

PYC non-member.

DOCKS:

We are hoping to have the docks in the weekend of March 22

followed by an early April all-hands-on-deck #1 Saturday work

party. Watch for the announcement for all the schlepping, yard

work etc. that is required to open for the season. Please know

how much we appreciate that PYC is a 100% volunteer

organization. Thank you!

 

2025 PYC SHIP’S STORE : Watch for the new items that

will be available at the Ship’s Store. There will be “real” etched

glasses, 75th Reunion Swag, new design “T” and polo shirts and

much more!

 

PYC HAS TALENT! Members, you have months to “get your act

together” for the 2nd  PYC ANNUAL TALENT SHOW to be held

at the 2025 Midsummer Party on July 12th. The party follows the

Midsummer Regatta. Last summer there was an abundance of

talent . We will need worker bees, judges and of course talented

(or not!) participants. More info to come!
