May Work Party

An impromptu pre-commissioning Work Party will be held on Saturday, May 22nd at 9 am - noon. Come one, come all. Come for an hour or come for the morning. We have a job for everyone. This is a great way to meet fellow members and ready the club for another great season.

Commodore Race

The Commodore Race will be held on Saturday, May 29th. The Skippers Meeting is at noon and the water start time is 1pm. This is the first club race of the season, traditionally held on the same day as commissioning. It is a distance race scored using the Portsmouth handicap. All small sailboats are welcome. The course is typically 3 - 4 miles. Depending on the wind direction, boats will sail around Nun 28 north of Essex Harbor, north of the club and back to the club. The race can take anywhere between 1 3 hours based on your boat, skill and luck. All Pettipaug sailors are welcome.

If you are interested in volunteering on the Race Committee, Mark Boat or Safety Boat please email commodore@pettipaug.org

Commissioning

The Commissioning Ceremony is s time honored tradition which celebrates the opening of the new sailing season at the club. This year the ceremony will start at 5:00 pm on Saturday, May 29th. We will be easing back into the new normal. There will NOT be a potluck or bar provided by the club. Members are welcome to BYOB and snacks.

This was a big project that required planning, patience and many hands. Thank you everyone.

Moorings and Removal of Anchors and Tackle

Members who keep a mooring in the field off the club known as the Meadows should be aware of a change in the Essex Harbor Management Commission private mooring policy. The Commission is requiring moorings be installed and removed professionally.

Only moorings and tackle that are used seasonally may be stored over the winter at the club.

If you have a mushroom anchor/mooring that will not be used this summer, please remove it from the grounds immediately. The club will take over any unidentified moorings that are not removed by May 31st.

Any questions, please contact Mischa van Berkel, vicecommodore@pettipaug.org or Amy Gordon Pullin, commodore@pettipaug.org

Private Boats at Pettipaug

Members may now bring private boats that will be used regularly to the club. Please remember, boats may not be over 20 in length.

Each boat is required to have a sticker. If you do not have a sticker, contact Vice Commodore, Mischa van Berkel at vicecommodore@pettipaug.org

Please remember placement of your boat is not necessarily final. Boats may be moved to maximize yard space and efficiency.
