HAPPY THANKSGIVING

What Did the Pilgrims Eat at the First Thanksgiving | Epicurious

COMMODORE’S COMMENTS               Thanksgiving                 November 28, 2024

It’s a drizzly day but hopefully the bright spot will be in the comfort of sharing the day with

family and friends or just spending a relaxing day alone, catching up on parades, football

games or reflecting on memories of Thanksgivings  past. Of course I could bore you to death

with memories of Thanksgiving “dinner” at the Robinsons’, my dad’s family. Perhaps difficult

to find a more eccentric group of 17 people gathered around a round table suited for 12. My

grandmother, Emily was a stranger to cooking and the kitchen, but she was a connoisseur of

baked beans! I’ll leave it at that and end with my great grandmother, Annie Tagg’s closing line

after reciting her annual Thanksgiving toast- poem (15 minutes and counting)~ “So, here’s to you! ”

So, HERE’S TO YOU! All of you. Enjoy the day, enjoy one another, be safe!

Thank you to all who attended the Annual Meeting on November 9th. Many thanks to our

fabulous officers- past and present and Board of Governors. To all members who volunteered

to help maintain and sustain our beloved Pettipaug Yacht Club. 2025 is PYC’s 75th Anniversary.

A year of completing necessary projects, festivities and celebrations!  I will keep you posted,

of course.

A little 1620 drama~

This is Longfellow’s rendition:  Myles Standish, John Alden and Priscilla Mullins met aboard the

Mayflower. The shy Myles Standish was taken by Priscilla Mullens. He asked his friend John Alden

to sing his praises to her. John did so for his friend.  BUT, Priscilla had fallen in love with John.

Q~ What memorable statement did she say to him?
