[PYC-News]Commodores Update - January 2022
[Image preview] Dear fellow Pettipaug members, With this first Commodores Update coming out of my pen, I would like to take the opportunity to wish everyone a happy, healthy and prosperous 2022. Furthermore, I wanted to thank all member volunteers by generously supporting the club and making 2021 such a great success. I believe that we can conclude that the club is in great shape. Our financial situation is solid and a large number of projects have been completed. Just to name a few: the replacement of the south docks, repairs to the clubhouse foundation, installation of siding, painting of our buildings, repairs to our fleet, etcetera. On behalf of the board: thank you all for your ongoing support and hard work and I hope that the club can continue to rely on you again this year. Although Pettipaug is currently in its figurative hibernation, many members are working hard on preparations for next season already. We are planning to fill the 2022 calendar with a lot of club racing. Also, we are very positive that the Safe Powerboat Course will be held at Pettipaug this season again. Furthermore, many ideas with regard to improvements to the clubhouse, yard and fleet are being turned into actual projects. Registration for the 2022 summer program of Pettipaug Sailing Academy (PSA) will be opened by the end of January. For more information about the program and registration, please keep an eye on the website www.pettipaug.com<http://www.pettipaug.com>. Within the next few days, you will be receiving the yearbook and the membership letter by mail. A kind request to all members is to return the completed form and to pay your fees in due time. Like previous years, it is possible to pay by means of a check as well as electronically via PayPal. Anything to make it easy for everyone. In the membership letter you will be asked if you are willing to donate your time by joining a committee and/or taking a position. Ahead of this request, I can already announce the following openings: * Apprentice/Assistant Treasurer * Ship Store Manager, to order and sell our club merchandise and keeping the assortment on the website up-to-date. * Summer Attendants, paid positions on weekend days during the "commissioned" period of the club. * Pettipaug Representative to join the Connecticut River One Design Leukemia Cup Committee. * PSA Sailing Director, paid position for the PSA summer program. * PSA Sailing Instructors, paid positions for the PSA summer program If you are interested in one of these roles, or if you would like to receive more information about them, please send me a direct message via commodore@pettipaug.org<mailto:commodore@pettipaug.org>. On behalf of the Board of Governors, thank you very much, Mischa van Berkel Commodore
