[PYC-News] Pettipaug Yacht Club Commodore's Update March 2018
*Commodoreâs Update* *March 2018* Dear Pettipaug Members, The ice has finally melted, the days are getting longer, and itâs time to start preparing the club for another great season of boating, learning to sail, socializing and enjoying one of the prettiest spots in Essex. Keep reading to see how you can help at work parties, register for the Sailing Academy, and for the dates the Commissioning and summer party. Are you missing a boat? Scroll down to see if you are the owner of one of these abandoned vessels. *Membership:* Thank you to all who have already returned their membership dues which were mailed out in January. Please remember they need to be returned by April 1 to keep your membership current. If you have any membership questions, please reach out to Amy Pullin at amygordonpullin@hotmail.com. *Work Parties:* All hands on deck! Join us on March 17 and/or March 31 from 9AM-1PM or for any amount of time you can give. We will be putting docks in, raising the flag pole, removing boats from the deck, repairing the road, and getting the club house ready for summer. The work parties are a great way to meet fellow members and contribute to the success of our club, no prior experience necessary. Please come by and lend a hand. Contact Jim Carey with any questions: jciaus@yahoo.com. *Junior Sailing Registration:* Registration is now open for Pettipaug Sailing Academy, PSA. Registration is on a first come basis, so encourage anyone interested in signing up to go to Junior Sailing on the Pettipaug web site and check out our program and application. We offer both recreational and racing sailing for youths ages 8-16 from June 25 through August 3. *Wednesday night Blue Jay Racing 2018:* Catch the excitement and join in the rousting and jousting on the water for our first season of monthly Blue-Jay Racing. All PYC members are welcome to participate and attend. Mark your calendars for these Wednesdays: April 25, May 23, June 20 and July 18. Boats must be ready by 5:30PM to race with a skipper and crew. There are some PYC owned Blue Jays that may be used for racing, available on first come basis. Contact Priscilla Robinson at probinson02@snet.net to sign up to sail, volunteer for race committee or boat maintenance crew, or for more information. *Boat Storage Policy:* Any boats stored at the club must be registered and have a PYC sticker affixed. Only boats 20â or less may be stored on our grounds. Contact Jim Carey if you need a sticker for your boat. We had a few boats left at the club over the winter. If you own one of these boats, or know who does, please reach to Jim. Boats left at the club for the winter will be considered abandoned and removed at the discretion of the Board of Governors.
