The Skippers Meeting is at noon and the water start time is 1pm. This is the first club race of the season, traditionally held on the same day as commissioning. It is a distance race scored using the Portsmouth handicap. All small sailboats are welcome. The course is typically 3 - 4 miles. Depending on the wind direction, boats will sail around Nun 28 north of Essex Harbor, north of the club and back to the club. The race can take anywhere between 1 â 3 hours based on your boat, skill and luck. All Pettipaug sailors are welcome. If you are interested in volunteering on the Race Committee, Mark Boat or Safety Boat please email commodore@pettipaug.org<mailto:commodore@pettipaug.org> Commissioning The Commissioning Ceremony is s time honored tradition which celebrates the opening of the new sailing season at the club. This year the ceremony will start at 5:00 pm on Monday, May 31st. We will be easing back into the new normal. There will NOT be a potluck or bar provided by the club. Members are welcome to BYOB and snacks. Removal of Anchors and Tackle If you have a mushroom anchor/mooring that will not be used this summer it needs to be removed from the grounds immediately. The club will take over any unidentified moorings that are not removed by Monday, May 31st. Only moorings and tackle that are used seasonally may be stored over the winter at the club. Any questions, please contact Mischa van Berkel, vicecommodore@pettipaug.org<mailto:vicecommodore@pettipaug.org> or Amy Gordon Pullin, commodore@pettipaug.org<mailto:commodore@pettipaug.org> Free Stuff At the work party last week, we determined there were a number of items on the grounds that were no longer needed or an excess. These will be put out on Monday around race time for anyone who may be interested. Items include excess life jackets, scrap wood, used rubrail, an old refrigerator (happy to deliver in tri-town area), books...
