We would like to help spread the word about a benifit for workers of The Black Seal - a local watering hole long supported by sailors.... On January 6th, The Black Seal, of Essex CT had an early morning fire. Gratefully, there were no injuries or fatalities, but the building suffered enough damage where the business will not be able to reopen for several months. What we tend not to think about during times like these, are the Employees, who are now without a job. You will think, they can claim unemployment benefits, but in reality, due to the significant portion of their pay being TIP compensation, this benefit will not fulfill their financial need. In addition, many if not all work on a week-to-week basis with no significant savings and in one case in particular the whole household of four is now without work. This is why I am reaching out to you. They need our financial help!
