[cid:image001.png@01D94461.C89B2EB0] Commodore's Update - February 2023 Dear Pettipaug members, Pettipaug Sailing Academy - REGISTRATION is open!! I am very excited to announce that the registration for the 2023 program of Pettipaug Sailing Academy (PSA) is open!! PSA classes are designed for junior sailors aged 8 to 18, regardless of previous sailing experience or Pettipaug membership. US Sailing Certified Instructors, trained in CPR and First Aid will stress basic sailing skills, seamanship, sportsmanship and the fun of sailing. More advanced students will learn the finer points of boat handling, racing tactics and may be offered the opportunity to participate in inter-club racing. The PSA program runs for two three-week sessions. The first session is from June 26 to July 14 and the second session is from July 17 to August 4. Classes are held Monday through Friday in two groups: Morning, 8:30-12:00 and Afternoon, 1:00-4:30. Registration is open to the public, so please feel free and spread the word! Membership letter and fees All members should have received the 2023 PYC Membership Renewal letter by mail. If not done already, I kindly request you to return the completed form and to pay your fees as soon as possible. Like previous years, it is possible to pay by means of a check as well as electronically via PayPal. Anything to make it easy for everyone. In the membership letter you are asked if you are willing to donate your time by joining a committee and/or by taking a position. Even if you are already a committee member, please fill in and return the form so that we can ensure that the roster is up-to-date. Laser parts In the previous commodore update, I called out for help on Laser boat parts. The Pettipaug Sailing Academy is planning to revive Laser sailing this season. Therefore, we could use some good quality Laser Radial Parts. In particular, if you have an upgraded vang system, Radial bottom mast section or good quality Radial sail, PSA is looking forward to your donation or bargain sale.
