[PYC-News] Pettipaug List Server update
Last Friday Pettipaug sent an email via our list server regarding Saturday's events: Commodore's Race and Commissioning. It was an inopportune time for the list server and gmail to have a fight, but it happened. As a result, many of you received an email saying you had been removed from the list server. That was an automatic response by the list server due to the issues between it and google. It is not our intention to unsubscribe any members. The old list appears in all ways to have been configured correctly. But this happened. So, since Friday I have created a new list from the ground up. You are receiving this message because you are subscribed to the new list. The new list has been tested a lot. I hope it is working as it is supposed to. For those that are interested we have SPF, DKIM and DMARC setup for the new list (it was configured before too . . .). Anyway, testing reveals that many test emails we have sent are flagged as spam by google. 100% of test messages have been delivered. So far 100% have gone to spam when delivered to a gmail address. I do not believe there is anything more we can do to change that from our end. However, there is something you can do. If you want Pettipaug email announcements to go to your inbox instead of spam, you can "whitelist" our sending address. Most of the issues we are aware of recently have been with gmail. Attached is a document that provides step by step directions to "whitelist" Pettipaug News emails. It looks tedious, but it is not as hard as it seems. We apologize for any confusion this issue has caused. If you have problems with the attached directions, please let us know. Other mail systems have whitelist options, but the steps are different. The steps in the attached are specific to gmail. Please be in touch with problems or concerns. The best email for list server problems: listmaster@pettipaug.org<mailto:listmaster@pettipaug.org> Thank you for your patience. Bob -- Robert Cashman For Pettipaug Yacht Club
