[PYC-News] Pettipaug Yacht Club Commodore's Update May
[cid:8de08e1a-515c-4e29-bd96-20fbfe36ef38] Another month closer to being out on the water enjoying the beautiful scenery and fellowship of our Club. Make sure to mark you calendars for the Commissioning on May 11th, weâre all looking forward to officially opening the Club. New members, and of course the Club veterans, are encouraged to attend. This annual tradition is a great way to meet fellow Club members and celebrate the end of winter hibernation. PYC Sailing Academy registration is open â this is the premier junior sailing program in the area. See our website for more information: https://pettipaug.org/PYC-academyPage.html House and Grounds The boat yard opens May 1 for members to bring their boats to the Club. Use caution when going out on the water, the river is quite high now and may stay that way for the immediate future. Flooding is still happening at the club and there is considerable debris in the water and around the docks. Please see an attendant on the weekends, starting May 11, to register your boat and get a sticker when you bring your boat down. Any questions should be directed to Jim Carey at jciaus@yahoo.com. We anticipate road work to be done by our volunteers in the near future to fill in the holes in the road. It is important that we drive slowly on the roads once repairs are done so the stone added to the holes is not kicked right back out. Connecticut River Leukemia Cup 2019: May 4 and 5 Join us again this year for an exciting two-day race being held on the Connecticut River on May 4 and 5. Join our fellow sailors in Essex for great racing and a great cause. All small sailboat fleets are welcome. There is still time to join us for a party and auction to raise money to support the cause on Saturday night; the party is open to the public. Steve Benjamin, Etchells World Champion and sailor extraordinaire will speak at the party.
