[Racing Signals: Sailing Flag Meanings | Life of Sailing] Postponement of Robin C Starr Race and Decommissioning to October 28, 2023 Dear Pettipaug members, As sailors, we are used to adapt our sailing plans to the circumstances. However, the forecasts for the upcoming weekend are such that we had to decide to raise the AP flag for the Robin C. Starr Race and Pettipaug's Decommissioning. Due to the timing of the race and the boat types sailed, the Charles Birch Memorial Race will continue to be sailed as planned. Mischa van Berkel Commodore Charles Birch Memorial Race The Charles Birch Memorial Race will be held as previously announced tomorrow. It will be the third and final race of the Tri Club Series that is traditionally hosted by the three Essex Yacht Clubs. It is a PHRF handicap race for cruising boats over 20ft. Notices of Race and the entry form can be found on the Pettipaug website<https://www.pettipaug.com/PDFs/Birch%202023%20NOR.pdf>. The awards however, will be handed out during the postponed Decommissioning event. Robin C Starr Memorial Race As mentioned above, the Robin C. Starr Memorial Race will be postponed until October 28, 2023. Same time, same place. Please find attached the updated Notice Of Race and Sailing Instructions. The Skippers meeting will be at noon at the PYC Clubhouse and the first start will be at 1pm. Registration will be ahead of the skippers meeting on the deck of our clubhouse. Club Decommissioning Adjacent to the Robin C. Starr Memorial Race, on Saturday October 28 at 5pm, we will be decommissioning Pettipaug Yacht Club for the season. Furthermore, awards for both the Charles Birch and the Robin Starr Memorial races will be handed out. Please bring a dish to share and $5 cover charge for participation and beverages.
