[PYC-News]Commodore's Update - November 2023
[cid:image001.png@01DA0D5F.BCE74BE0] Commodore's Update - November 2023 Dear Pettipaug members, Last Saturday, we celebrated the postponed annual decommissioning of the club. It was fantastic to see so many members. Also, on Saturday, a small fleet of Sunfish and MC Scows battled for the Robin C Starr trophy. Sarah Dubois was the unexpected, but not undeserved winner! Her name will be put on the restored trophy, which will get its permanent spot in the Commodore Room of the clubhouse. With mixed feelings, I am writing this last Commodore's Update. After 2 years, my watch will be over and it is time to hand over the helm. I will continue to be available as an active Pettipaug board member, however more behind-the-scenes. Via this way, I want to thank everyone for all their support and volunteerism during this time. Please take some time to continue reading, because this update contains important information about the club activities that we still have on the calendar. Mischa van Berkel, Commodore Work Party on 4 November at 9am All Pettipaug members are invited for the winterizing work party on 4 November. We will start at 9am and expect to be ready by noon. Put on your working cloths, boots and gloves and bring your weedwhackers, cutters and other gardening tools. Let's get some work done and have fun at the same time. It is always a great opportunity to meet other members as well. And as always: many hands make light work. Boat removal If your boat, rowing shell, kayak or other vessel is still in the Pettipaug yard, please be reminded to remove it by Sunday 5 November latest. All yard space is needed for the docks and Pettipaug owned boats. Furthermore, this will give us the opportunity to do some maintenance to the areas that are normally obstructed by boats. Annual Meeting, Dinner & Awards All members should have received the invitation for our annual meeting by email. This year, the meeting will be held on 12 November at The Lace Factory Warehouse on 161 River St in Deep River. The doors will open at 5pm and the costs will be $45 per person, payable by cash or check at the door. As always, there will be an open bar during which hors d'oevres will be served. This will be followed by a dinner and dessert buffet. During the annual meeting, the membership will be informed about the state of the club, volunteers will be recognized, our traditional awards will be handed out, and a new board will be installed. I am looking forward to see you all during this last Pettipaug club event of the year. Please RSVP via the following link: https://forms.gle/oiYwjyxxoYkSbJte7
