Jen's introduction: "One day, I had a realization: I was at a point in my life where I could do something just for me. My fascination with the Appalachian Trail resurfaced. I hadn't hiked any of the trail south of Connecticut. I could take the train from Georgia and walk home! In April 2022 I retired from my 30 year career managing Essex Meadows and embarked on my 1,474 miles journey taking the train to Georgia. I reached my goal of Kent, Connecticut, in August. After a few months at home, I decided to finish the trail. So, the next summer, I picked up where I left off and hiked 724 miles to Mount Katahdin, Maine. I mostly hiked the trail alone, but I enjoyed the company of my sister for a few weeks. John also joined me for a few weeks and completed all of Maine with me.
