[PYC-News] Pettipaug Yacht Club Reminders
With summer in full swing, we have lots of members making good use of the club and it is terrific to see everyone enjoying our spot on the river. We have a record number of members at the moment and many of them active boaters. As you may know, we do not have staff at the club during the week, and only for limited hours on the weekend, typically 10-5. We rely on the cooperation of members to do their part in following the rules of the club which allow us all to safely enjoy our time on the Connecticut River. 1. With increased use of the club by our members, we are currently full in the boat yard and no more privately owned boats may be brought down to be stored at the club. Of course members are still welcome to launch their boats from home on our ramp, but we can no longer take any more overnight storage at PYC. 2. All children ages 12 and under must wear a PFD (lifejacket) when on the docks, boat ramp, or in the water near these facilities. These children must also be supervised by an adult at all times while at the club. Our docks and ramp are a busy place and no one should be in the water when boats are coming in and out. 3. Our Sailing Academy is half way through their season now and we have over 80 sailors every day participating in our program. The program runs Monday through Friday, 8:30-4:30, through August 3. During their hours of operation, the Sailing Academy has priority on use of our docks and ramps. If you will be launching during these hours, please make sure you wait for a time when the academy sailors are not actively using the docks and ramps. Thank you to all for your cooperation in abiding by these rules, all intended to enhance everyone's enjoyment of the club and keep our members safe. Enjoy the rest of summer.
