[PYC-News] Pettipaug Yacht Club Commodore's Update June
[cid:c301adf1-4680-4162-971a-351df55b69f6] While I donât want to jinx us, April and May showers appear to have cleared and ushered in a beautiful June. Why not take advantage of the longer, warmer, drier days with a visit to PYC? Sign up your children for the renowned summer sailing program, take out your kayak, go for a sail, grab some friends to cook a burger or two on the grills, or just sit back and enjoy one of the best views on the Connecticut River. We look forward to a wonderful season and hope to see you all at the club soon. PYC Sailing Academy registration is open â this is the premier junior sailing program in the area. See our website for more information: https://pettipaug.org/PYC-academyPage.html. Help us spread the word about this amazing program â share on social media and encourage your friends to sign up their students. House and Grounds The boat yard opened May 1 for members to bring their boats to the Club. Use caution when going out on the water, the river is quite high now and may stay that way for the immediate future. Please see an attendant on the weekends to register your boat and get a sticker when you bring your boat down. Any questions should be directed to Jim Carey at jciaus@yahoo.com<mailto:jciaus@yahoo.com>. Thank you to John Rannestad for leading the way on repairing our road. PLEASE DRIVE SLOWLY ON THE ROAD TO THE CLUB. Speeding vehicles cause the loose stone to disappear more quickly from our holes in the road, so enjoy the view as you slowly approach the club. If you see anything out of place or damaged looking at the club, please report it to Jim at the above email. We only have attendants on duty on the weekends and appreciate any heads up we can get to help us address issues at the club. Membership Yearbooks are being finalized now and will be printed and mailed in June. Please look for yours in the mail later this month. If you are interested in having a gathering at Pettipaug, please refer to the Private Party Agreement form on the Calendar of Events page on our website, as well as check club availability on the calendar. For any gathering of more than 12 people, we request that you fill out a member use form so we may put your event on the calendar. The rules for using the club are included on the form as well. Thank you Several members and groups had made significant contributions to the club this past month. Thanks to Daniel Hand Sailing Team for the donation of 2 prop guards for our motor boats. Thanks to Mike Sperzel for making saw horses for our 420âs to rest on when they are on land. And thanks to John Becker for lending his expertise and time as he has been diligently repairing our junior sailing program boats to get them ready for summer. Volunteer Opportunities We need you!
